Thank you to the Lions and Lioness Clubs of Region N, Zone A. Collectively, these clubs designated the Association for the Hearing Impaired as their "Zone Project." Together, they donated enough money to enable us to purchase several new pieces of needed equipment for our loan out program. We very much appreciate the ongoing support of our local Lions and Lioness Clubs.

Advocacy Help
The Americans with Disabilities Act has was signed in to law in July of 1990. Unfortunately, many business and public agencies are not yet in compliance when it comes to serving patrons with a hearing impairment. If you are having trouble getting the services to which you are entitled, or if you are having trouble with an issue of public accessibility, there is help. Call or email Richard Warrender, 1-800-522-4369 (voice or TTY), our New York State Advocate for Persons with Disabilities.
Director's Corner
Hello everyone! Sarah, my administrative assistant has resigned and moved onto bigger and better things! I have hired a new administrative assistant, Kate Doty. She has been in the military for many years as well as working for Finch & Pyrun. She is in the process of learning sign language. She has learned the ABC's so far. When you stop in, please be patient with her and help her when she needs with her signing. Anyway, it is now time for the Kiwianis Duck Race! The tickets are available at my office. If you want to buy some, then stop by!
I would like to ask you a question. I would like to meet with the owner of Aimie's Dinner and Movie about the possibility of having open captions there. Would you be interested in having that set up? If so, please stop by my office to sign a petition. If I can prove there are enough interested people who would pay for a ticket to attend open caption night there, then it would help me in getting them to consider open captions.
Sincerely,
Amy Lapham
