American Sign Language (ASL)

Introductory Sign Language begins Wednesday September 24, 2008. Classes will run on Wednesday Evenings from 6:30- 8:30 p.m. at the Association for the Hearing Impaired, main conference room in the Glenwood Avenue facility.

This class will focus on an introduction to American Sign Language vocabulary and grammar. Instruction will include textbook, video, classroom practice, homework, and classes led by a certified instructor.

Cost: $35 textbook fee
Textbook: A Basic Course in American Sign Language

Pre-registration and pre-payment are required. For more information, call the Association office at 761-0554. You can print and mail your registration and payment. All registrations are due by Friday, September 19.

Fabulous Friends with Flying Fingers

The Fabulous Friends with Flying Fingers sign language troupe is open to all children age 6-15 that are willing to learn a variety of songs in sign language to perform at various events throughout the community. The performance schedule will be finalized and distributed to the participants soon after the class starts.

The goal of the troupe is to learn basic sign language and promote deaf culture awareness within the community.

The next session of the Fabulous Friends begins Tuesday, September 30.
