Hope this helps! If you need anymore help please call us at 518-761-0554

I am trying to find an organization that will help my husband with hearing aids. He is so hard of hearing, I have to yell so he can hear me. He is disabled and on Social Security, but his insurance will cover hearing aids. Can you help, or direct me to someone that can?
         Thank You very much,
          Brinda

Great website you have here but I was wanting to know if you knew of any user discussion forums that cover the same topics discussed in this article? I'd really love to be a part of group where I can get feed-back from other knowledgeable people that share the same interest. If you have any recommendations, please let me know. Thank you!

I agree! At my Rotary Club meeting last week, one of my fellow Rotarians was relating a telephone conversation he had just that morning. As he related his frustration with the person on the other end of the line's difficulty in understanding/following the conversation, I thought "Oh my gosh -- that person on the other end of the line could have been ME!" -- So, I gently asked him questions about the difficulty, and quietly asked if maybe the person on the other end of the line could have been hearing impaired... He sat thoughtfully for a minute, and everyone around the table did, too. Then he looked up and said "I never, ever thought about that." The conversation then became a "teachable moment" for all of us as I absorbed their observations and frustrations, and they absorbed my experiences and helpful hints. My hearing aids are very small, so most people don't notice them. What they don't realize is how hard I (and most of us who are hearing impaired) work at holding up my (our) end of the communication "bargain."

rrrrrTo whom this reaches,
I just happened to google hearing impairment and happened to click on your site. The 12 tips of communication just so happens to be so true, but what about teaching the people who do not have a hearing loss to have a little more understanding or respect for those of us who struggle to hear what's going on around us. I have been hearing impaired all my life, and now more that ever I wish that I could teach my youngest and my husband to be more respectful. By this I really mean that they shouldn't get upset with me when I don't hear them correctly, or if I sound rediculus when I don't answer the obvious way. Yes, I suppose I shouldn't get too upset for their ignorance, but it's getting old. I will post the "12 commandments" Thanks!!!!!!!
